Our History |
Greetings!
I started LeBlanc Family Farm in spring 2011 with one pig from Pennsylvania. Miss Piggy gave birth to ten little ones three days before my wedding. My new bride, Rachel, jumped right into helping with pig duties as we tried our hand at getting our "own" thing afloat at ages 20 and 22. Rachel did most of the morning feedings, carrying a bucket of grain to the back pasture and checking on our snouted friends, as I was busy helping to manage my folks' organic dairy farm. Most times you would find us spending quality-time together mucking out pig pens at 8:30- 9 o'clock at night after I got done for my folks for the day. A year later we started the Heirloom Pork Shop with the famous BLUE PIG with help from my neighbor, Tad, who designed the sign complete with an OPEN flag! In July 2014 we moved the meat shop down the road to the farm with the help of my wife's sisters and a tractor to carry the 15 freezers down. Rachel and I became the owners of the organic dairy herd in January 2015. Our little family began with twin boys a year later, followed by a girl two years after. Currently, we are in the process of moving our sows back from Pennsylvania to Vermont. My little people are so excited to have the piggies born here again! Little Samuel joined the band in April 2020, welcomed warmly by his brothers and sister (!!) nine years after the launch of the business, Thank you for supporting your local farmers! -- Jonathan |
